Scouts Australia
The branding for Scouts Australia draws inspiration from nature, merging the land and sky with the vibrant colours of Australia and Scouting. Central to the design is the fleur-de-lis, a symbol shared by Scouts worldwide for over a century, connecting them to each other and the global community. The branding also incorporates elements of Australia’s natural environment, such as the texture of gum trees, symbolizing adventure and creativity. This distinctive branding represents Australia’s unique landscape and will be showcased across various platforms, from buildings to vehicles.
The Fundamentals of Scouting
Scouting provides fun and adventure while helping Scouts grow into responsible citizens and active community members. Through the SPICES model (Social, Physical, Intellectual, Character, Emotional, and Spiritual development), Scouts focus on personal growth. Using the Scout Method, which includes teamwork, leadership, learning by doing, and community involvement, Scouts engage in activities that build skills and character. The Plan-Do-Review process encourages reflection and improvement, fostering better citizenship and contributing to creating a better world.
Plan Do Review
The Plan-Do-Review process encourages Scouts to plan adventures, execute them, and then reflect on their experiences. This cycle helps them improve their activities, develop new skills, and make each adventure more fun, challenging, and inclusive. After planning and doing, Scouts review by asking questions about what went well, what could be improved, and what they learned. This ongoing process fosters continuous personal growth and team development.
This is our youth program...
In January 2019, Scouts Australia launched their new youth program at AJ2019. The event featured a National Program Space filled with activities, information, and learning, showcasing the future of Scouting. The new program emphasizes adventurous, fun, challenging, and inclusive activities designed to foster the development of young people. A video was released to highlight the impact of this program in empowering youth through dynamic and engaging Scouting experiences.
Youth Engagement Across our Age Sections
Scouting fosters connections between different age sections, promoting leadership and skill-sharing. Older Scouts inspire younger members through joint activities, such as challenges, games, and fundraisers, building confidence and motivation. By participating in these shared experiences, Scouts learn new skills, develop friendships, and feel encouraged to advance through the program. Younger members look up to older Scouts, while older Scouts provide support and guidance, creating a sense of community and continuity across all Scouting sections. These interactions help foster leadership, fun, and growth throughout the Scouting journey.
The program is about education
Scouting provides non-formal education, focusing on developing leadership, resilience, teamwork, and life skills. Through the Scout Method, youth are engaged in hands-on activities that promote personal growth in social, physical, intellectual, character, emotional, and spiritual areas (SPICES). The program aims to integrate formal education with experiential learning to help young people thrive. Scouts actively participate in community involvement and leadership, aligning with global goals like the Sustainable Development Goals, creating a better world through their actions. Reflection and progression are key components of the Scouting journey.
All Scout connected
The Messengers of Peace is a global Scouting initiative that connects over 40 million Scouts worldwide. The program encourages Scouts to take action in supporting their communities and sharing their service projects on platforms like scout.org. Through this global network, Scouts can inspire others, collaborate across borders, and become a powerful force for change. By joining the network, Scouts contribute to creating a better world through service, innovation, and global cooperation. Visit scout.org to get involved and start making a difference.
